Klængshóll Lodge in Skíðadalur Valley or Raven Hill Lodge in Ski Valley as it would translate to in English, will be your home during your stay with us. The Lodge
is an ancient sheep farm that's been continually habited from the time of the settlement of the Vikings in Iceland in circa 850AD. The last sheep farmers at Klængshóll were the
grandparents of Arctic Heli Skiing's founder Jökull Bergmann, and he grew up on the farm working as a shepherd in the mountains of the Troll Peninsula.
The current farm house was built in the late fifties and maintains the classic appearance of the houses built in that era with a large kitchen/dining room which was the heart, soul and meeting
place of the whole family in those days and many bedrooms of varying sizes. Another classic part of the architecture of these mid twentieth century farm houses is the large entry way used in the
preparation of foods for storage and many other tasks. As most farmhouses in Iceland the exterior is white washed with a bright red roof, the traditional color of an Icelandic farm.
The old farm house now serves as our dining area and lounge whilst guests will enjoy the luxury of our new traditional style cabins for sleeping. Each cabin has two rooms, with each room on two
floors, where one person sleeps upstairs and one downstairs for maximum comfort and privacy. Each room has a bathroom with a shower, a full mini bar and all the comforts of a remote heli ski lodge,
with the added bonus of being very traditional in style, where every detail has been thought out, to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible.
Our guests will also enjoy the comforts of our very own Spa house, where they will enjoy relaxing moments in our Sauna or stretch out in the outdoor hot tub which overlooks the valley and your
very own tracks coming all the way down to the Lodge. In the Spa house you will also find shower rooms, a bathroom as well as the massage room, where our professional massage therapist will take good
care of your body after a long day of skiing.
But no place is as important or popular as the Barn, which used to hold the winters supply of hay, but has now been restored to house our ski and boot room, ski shop, where our ski techs prepare
your skis as well as our very own gift shop. The Barn is also where you will enjoy your apré ski snacks and cold drinks at the end of the day, hanging out by the wood burning stove in the
comfortable yet rustic lounge, where you can also enjoy your photos and videos on the big screen. On the second floor you will find our exercise and Yoga room where you will enjoy an AM stretch class
each morning or go for a few rounds of ping pong at night.
All meals are served in our country style kitchen/dining room and prepared by our great chef Gudvardur Gislason, a local culinary legend. The focus is on local products such as organic lamb,
fresh fish and game meats such as goose, with great emphasis on using what nature provides in the region. Vegetarians need not worry for ''Guffi'' is well versed in the ways of the no meat people. At
our bar we have a good selection of locally brewed beer, spirits and wine.
We ski right out of the door of Klængshóll Lodge with one of our signature runs The Horse giving you over 1200m or 4000ft of vertical descent right back to the front door.
